What it costs and how it works.
LifeChange Mentoring costs $1,000 per month. Here is what that covers and the policies every family agrees to before mentoring starts.
Fees
One monthly fee.

- Payment is due at the start of each month.
- The monthly fee is nonrefundable.
- The fee includes the weekly meeting, weekly home visit, weekly parent update and drug testing when needed.
- Mentoring is not a medical service, so families pay directly. His clinical care is billed separately by his own providers.
Scheduling
Cancellations and missed sessions.
- Give at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Without it, that week's session may be missed.
- If he does not show up for a session, his mentor makes an unplanned home visit.
- If he arrives late, we will try to fit the session in. Whether that is possible is the mentor's call.
- If his mentor must miss a week, the family is told ahead of time and the time is made up.
- Meetings are usually in person. Virtual meetings are available on request, but home visits and drug testing are always in person.
Confidentiality
What stays private and what is shared.
His identity and the details of his work with his mentor are kept confidential, unless a court orders otherwise. Parents receive a weekly update that stays general but informative, focused on progress, life skills, concerns and next steps.
There are exceptions. We report suspected physical or sexual abuse of a child to Child Protective Services as the law requires. If he is at imminent risk of harming himself or someone else, or threatens violence, we take appropriate action.
Scope
What mentoring is, and is not.
Mentoring is not psychotherapy or counseling, and it does not diagnose or treat mental health or substance use disorders. It is not a substitute for his therapist, psychiatrist or treatment program.
Mentoring is present and future focused. It is practical, action oriented and built on accountability. Mentoring is not a licensed or regulated profession in California.
Families sign an informed consent and release covering these points before mentoring begins.
