About us
Why we started LifeChange Mentoring.
Plenty of young men reach their twenties without the habits adult life asks for. Some are stuck at home. Some are starting over. We help them catch up, one week at a time.
Our view
The skills nobody taught him.
Many young men missed stages of growing up: keeping a budget, holding a job through a bad week, handling a relationship, keeping a place livable. Sometimes addiction or a hard few years got in the way. Sometimes life moved faster than he did. Those gaps are where progress stalls, and where parents feel stuck too.
LifeChange Mentoring pairs each young man with one mentor who helps him close those gaps, one week at a time, while his family stays informed. The goal is a young man who is stable, responsible, increasingly independent and chasing goals he chose himself.
How we work
What guides our mentors.
Relationship first
Nothing sticks without trust. The first month is spent earning it.
His goals, not ours
He follows through on what he wants. Mentors learn what that is and build the plan around it.
Slow, steady change
We aim for habits that last rather than quick compliance, and we say so up front.
Straight talk with parents
Weekly updates, honest about progress and concerns, without breaking his trust.
Part of his team
Mentoring supports his therapist, psychiatrist and recovery program. It never replaces them.
A planned finish
Mentoring is temporary. He leaves with a one-year plan to keep going on his own.
Our names
LifeChange Mentoring and Graduate Guides.
LifeChange Mentoring Inc. is the company. Families at New Life House know our program as Graduate Guides. It is the same program, the same mentors and the same weekly structure under either name.
We serve young men in Los Angeles and the South Bay. Reach us at 310-850-8510.
